Kole Bib Mirakaj was a valuable leader of the Puka region where he had great influence on the population.

His brother Pashuk and his son Ndoc fell between 1947 and 1949 with their weapon in hand fighting against the red tyranny. His other brother Pal kept the armed resistance alive in the Puka mountains.

As Minister of Interior between May and September 1943, Kole Bib Mirakaj played an important role in saving up to 2,000 Jews in Albania during WWII.

He left Albania in the wake of the communist regime, leaving behind his wife Gjina and two sons, Mojs and Leke. In 1946 he was one of the leading names of the Independent National Bloc in Rome.

While living in Italy, Mirakaj supported Albanian immigrants, in collaboration with Robert McKeever and the United Nations (Dr. Lawyer Lapenna), by providing them with housing in Western European countries and the USA.

He passed away on March 17, 1968 in New York leaving behind a daughter Lule and son Mojs, along with a number of grandchildren.
