
Prince of Mirdita, Gjon Markagjoni, Founding Member, was a political figure who enjoyed the greatest influence among the resistance population of Northern Albania, influence consecrated by the blood shed by two of his sons, Mark and Sander, in defense of the national traditions against the communist moral upheaval.
Although in exile the area of Mirdita continued the anti-communist armed resistance led by one of his nephews.
He was a leader of tenacious will, of sacred word and of calm wisdom that symbolized the kind of Albanian faithful to the most beautiful traditions of the country. He lived with his son Ndue in Rome until his death in 1966.
