PRESIDENT TRUMAN ESCAPED ATTEMPT ON HIS LIFE

Today at Blair House, the temporary residence of President Truman, there was prompt intervention by the personal Security Service caused by an attack of two fanatics of the anti-American party in Puerto Rico.

In the shooting, which started a minute before Mr. Truman left his home, a security officer was killed and another seriously injured.

The news of this attack caused considerable excitement in America and around the world.

On behalf of the Albanian National Independent Block, its president, Dr. Ismail Verlaci, immediately sent a telegram of congratulations for the avoided peril:

“The Albanian National Independent Bloc wishes to express warm congratulations to you for having escape this execrable attack and sending best wishes for health and prosperity for you and your country to which oppressed Albania is turning for its liberation from the yoke of Communist imperialism.“
