Letter to Nikoll Melyshi from Bardhok Ndreu -26.2.1952

15-3-1952

Bardhok Ndreu, on 26-II-52, from Gostivar (Yugoslavia), writes 7 to his uncle Nikoll Melyshi:

I hereby convey my deepest condolences for the loss of your loved ones that you have suffered because of the terrorists of Tirana. Uncle: take courage because so many misfortunes were destined to be suffered.

I now inform you that since 22.9.1951 I have taken refuge here with 11 companions and my wife. They are:

1) Ibrahim Bami, 2) Ndrec Gjet Qupi 3) Ramazan Sul Merkeqi and others.

Uncle: I inform you that after killing Prend and Gjergj, the communists, not satisfied with this, wanted to eliminate others as well as me with these companions, so on 16.8.1949 I went into hiding with three other brave men. I suffered a lot and the damage was severe so much so that in June of last year Gjergj’s son and those of Gjon were killed, both in an ambush. This killing deeply hurt me, but what to do? I left Gjergj in the mountains with some companions and I know nothing about them as I was forced to take refuge in Yugoslavia since I had my wife with me in the mountains for a year. When my family was confined, my wife was held by the Sigurimi1 in Kruja, so I decided to take refuge and get myself released from prison, which I managed to do. But I tell you that it is very distressing to have your wife in the mountains.

Now we are doing quite well here in Yugoslavia.

Kindest regards.

Your nephew

Bardhok
